vintage Joe Colombo chair

£495.00

A fabulous shaped occasional chair believed to be by acclaimed designer Joe Colombo for the Italian company Kartell.

Founded in 1949, Kartell is a truly visionary and pioneering company, producing cutting-edge furniture and furnishings made of plastic. Their innovative designs have been rewarded with many international awards, including the Good Design Award in 2012, while their pieces are displayed in museums around the world.

Joe Colombo designed the armchair in 1965, and originally it was the only piece produced by the company that was made entirely of wood due to the fact the technology needed to reproduce the shape did not exist. The curves and elegance of the chair ensured it was a big seller and in vogue in the 60s.

We have updated the seat using an Ian Mankin black and white striped cotton to give it a fresh contemporary look.
