Large antique Puglian passata bowl

£150.00

A beautiful  Italian antique ceramic passata bowl with a cream glaze and lovely green smammarito or splattered paint effect. These bowls known as ‘limmi,’ originate from Puglia in Southern Italy.

These lovely bowls take their name from the fact they were often used for making a tomato paste or washing olives.  Beautifully decorative and full of history, these bowls could be used for domestic purposes or just for display.

This is a very special piece but has some internal cracks, commensurate with its age.
