Antique Puglian jug

£65.00

An antique hand-thrown jug with an elegant form that is perfectly balanced with a simple, primitive aesthetic. The thick terracotta jug was originally used by farmers to keep the wine (or water) fresh whilst working the land on those long, hot summer days. This utility drinking flask features a lovely ochre glaze which was there purely for hygiene purposes, so it could be wiped clean after use, not as a decorative addition. Testament to its good design, today it would make a unique display piece to compliment any home, from modern spaces to rustic, farmhouse styles.
